The Social Security Administration announces the annual cost-of-living adjustment after September inflation data is available. VA compensation increases match the Social Security percentage under federal law.
For 2027, an announced adjustment would generally take effect December 1, 2026, with that month’s benefit paid at the start of January 2027, adjusted for the holiday. No percentage or projected amount is asserted here.
