Additional dependent compensation
Veterans rated at least 30% may receive added compensation for qualifying dependent spouses, children and parents. Dependency must be established with VA.

A service-connected rating of 30% or more is one eligibility pathway for travel reimbursement. Veterans with a lower rating may qualify when traveling for care for a service-connected condition or through other rules.

A spouse or child may qualify when the veteran is permanently and totally disabled due to a service-connected condition. A 100% rating alone does not establish permanent and total status; TRICARE eligibility can exclude CHAMPVA.

Eligible spouses and children of veterans with a permanent and total service-connected disability may qualify for Chapter 35 education benefits. A temporary 100% rating is not sufficient by itself.

Class IV includes veterans whose service-connected disabilities are rated 100% or who receive the 100% rate through individual unemployability. A temporary total rating generally does not qualify under this class.

Veterans with a service-connected disability may qualify for commissary, exchange and certain MWR access. Access identification and installation rules apply; this is not restricted to a 100% rating.
