Vehicle registrationDisabled-veteran special-group platesUtah offers a disabled-veteran recognition plate with no initial or annual contribution charge. Standard plate, certificate, shipping and applicable vehicle-registration charges are separate.Submit state/VA/military certification of disabled-veteran status. Hunting and fishingDiscounted disabled-veteran licensesEligible disabled veterans can purchase discounted hunting, fishing or combination licenses. Once approved, the disability discount can be retained for renewals.Utah resident with at least 20% service-connected disability documented by VA or a branch of the Armed Forces. State parksVeterans with Disabilities Honor PassA free annual Honor Pass provides qualifying state-park day use for the veteran and up to seven guests in the same private vehicle.Honorably discharged Utah resident with service-connected disability. This Is the Place Heritage Park, Antelope Island causeway fees and special charges are excluded. The veteran must possess and use the nontransferable pass.Official program details
EducationVeterans Tuition Gap ProgramEligible veterans in the final year of a first bachelor degree can receive up to one year of tuition-gap support after exhausting VA education benefits.Utah tuition residency, qualifying service/honorable discharge, approved institution and final-year academic status. Income taxMilitary retirement tax creditUtah provides a credit based on federally taxable military retirement included in adjusted gross income, using the applicable tax-year rate. EmploymentVeteran hiring preferenceQualifying veterans receive five points or 5% of the possible score, whichever is greater. Disabled veterans and Purple Heart recipients receive ten points or 10%; qualifying spouses have related pathways.Initial state employment with passing scores and statutory veteran/service eligibility.
